“From Brown Bag to Picturebook”
Jennifer J. Merz is available for storytimes and signings at booksellers, schools, and libraries.

Using storyboards, collage materials, and a PowerPoint display, she demonstrates how she creates her picturebooks – starting with simple brown paper bags!

Enjoy the storytime readings and find out how picturebooks are created.  Every child receives a picture to take home and color, and Ms. Merz is available to sign her books following the presentation.

COMMENTS

“Thank you once more for a truly memorable program,”  Ridgewood, NJ Public Library

“It was fascinating to discover how your book evolved!”
Archer Nursery School, Allendale, NJ

“Crafted with torn-and-cut paper, lace, and other trims, the detailed collages are a delight to examine.  The illustrations exude energy…Lyrics are appended, ensuring that the old tune will be passed on to the next generation.  This charming offering will be well received by groups or during one-on-one sharing.”  School Library Journal

“For those who wish to join in, the sheet music can be found on the last page.  Merz blithely offers a day of knees “a-knockin’” and toes “a-rockin’.” Publishers’ Weekly

“To share a book with such rich art work is educational as well as inspirational. We're looking forward to more books by Ms. Merz.”  Lucia B.

“I gave this book to a one year old girl and she loved it. She dances with her doll just like the character in the book!”
Barbara W.

“We love singing this book, and the fact that [my daughter] is learning the tune to "Buffalo Gals" is an added bonus. The depth and texture of the illustrations is marvelous. It’s a book we'll treasure.”
